Ode to Facebook/Blogger

Over the course of the last several weeks, I have found several of my old friends from Bartlett, TN (the city close to Memphis that I did most of my growing up in). Compliments of facebook.com, we have had fun catching up on each other's lives. It is hard to believe that we hardly spent a weekend apart without some sort of dance party, pool party, or random event to hang out back in high school and now it has been years since we've even communicated. Honestly, it had been 10 years since I've been in touch with some of my old BHS friends! I should win some kind of "Slacker Friend" award. However, thanks to facebook.com, we are all getting caught up :) Facebook, I think I love you. These are pictures of our old "crew."
So, I'd also like to send a shout-out to Blogger for reconnecting me with other TN friends (actually, they were more like family). My family was seriously BFF with the Boston family back in Bartlett. I'm talking dinner every Sunday night together, hanging out every holiday, Rotel and the "Hallelujah Chorus" every Christmas Eve, river walks and tours of downtown Memphis, driving lessons in the Boston's Datsun, Reba McIntyre concert with Em, scrambling to seminary, swapping brother's for Prom dates--sorry, Em, you got stuck with Jason :), our family runs after Thanksgiving Dinner, ...really, the list could seriously go on forever. Well, Emily, Ben (actually, I think his cute wife does all the blogging), and Audra Boston are all bloggers as well and it has been great to sneak a peak at their lives! I seriously worshipped Emily and Audra. With that little Courtney History 101, I will move on to answering the Tag questions from Emily, a great friend from Bartlett:

3 Joys:
1. My family
2. Running (most of the time)
3. Seeing the hand of God in my life

3 Fears:
1. Shaune's cancer coming back
2. That I am not teaching my children enough
3. That I won't be able to go on to more school

Current Obsessions:
1. Cleaning my house (always)
2. Potty-training a resistant toddler
3. Wearing cute glasses
4. Day-dreaming about going to medical school
5. Real estate (always looking, never buying)
6. Writing my cookie cookbook and making sure that every recipe has the most delectable, mouth-watering pictures to go with it :)
7. Having an incredible marriage
8. Making a million dollars

3 Facts:
1. I have never purchased a car. When I met Shaune at BYU, he had a car (1986 Crown Victoria---still running). About 1 year ago, the wonderful Cutler family gave us our other car. I loathe car debt, probably because I have never had to buy one. However, I really enjoy working on cars and have resurrected Shaune's car many times. Takes a lickin', keeps on tickin'.
2. I eat dessert almost every night. Since I have been working on perfecting cookies, we eat a particularly large amount of those :) I figure running is good for at least one thing...I don't feel guilty eating cookies :)
3. I was secretly (only momentarily) jealous when my husband was diagnosed with cancer because I thought he was going to get to make-a-wish...something I have always thought would be my only way of getting to meet the only famous person I love, Celine Dion (ok, quit laughing, I am serious...went to her concert, 12th row, cried when she came on the stage---she has such an amazing voice!). I have always said, long before Shaune was diagnosed with cancer, that if I ever got cancer and got to make-a-wish, I would want to sing/dance back-up for Celine Dion. Now that I am a volunteer with Make-A-Wish, I realize that I have been too old for this wish ever since I had it...they only grant wishes for those up to age 18...darn. So, can you see why I had just a quick flash of jealousy?? :)

Since I have tagged everyone in the world already, it would be fun to learn 1 fact about each of you that I didn't already know :) Have a great day! Go, BHS Panther!

Courtney "The Tennis Star" Whittington. Thank you for playing along with my tag. I'm so glad you've found so many other Bartlett friends lately.
You'll have to share your "Slacker Friend" award with me. I'm a deserving recipient as well.

Courtney Olivia Whittington (COW), I always thought that would be a cool middle name! So it is funny that you have been in contact with old friends from BHS. John English called me this past week to tell me that our 10 year Class Reunion is on September 6, 2008 in Memphis. We have both been emailing different people trying to find out more info.
Hard to believe it has been 10 years!
Nice pictures of the old group! Do you still have your old Senior Video?
