This last weekend was my first opportunity to be a part of an official Make-A-Wish wish that was granted. While I have to be careful not to mention names or places, let me simply say that while our newspapers and news channels are splattered with tales of the horrible and gory things that happen, stuff like this wish that was granted would be SO much more inspiring! I can't help but wonder what great things might come out of a headline about neighbors who pitched in to build a very sick child her dream pink playhouse? Or the other sweet neighbor who had heart-shaped pizza's made for her big reveal day? Or the endless attention to detail done by other neighbors, teachers, family members, and friends--like the front porch swing, the hand-sewn curtains, the pots painted by her siblings, the princess cake, the cooler filled with Pepsi because that is the only thing she can handle eating on her own?
I was totally motivated to do a little better and to be a little kinder to people around me. I truly believe that one person can make a difference. This sweet girl certainly made a difference for me and all those who helped make her wish come true.

That is so wonderful that you are a part of that! I would love to do something like that after this baby is born and life settles down a bit. You are amazing and always such an example to me. BTW, thanks for the photo tips...your house is beautiful!!
I agree that watching the news taints your view of the world to be this awful place! It's good to be reminded that there are really wonderful people out there!
That's so awesome that you were able to be a part of something like this! What a great experience!
