For Erin

Last week, Caden told me that his "ear was buzzing." He has had a lot of trouble with ear infections lately. So, I asked him if his ear hurt, to which he responded, "Nope." We moved on with our fun day--heart attacking my parents, and working on our Valentine's Party. Late in the afternoon, I noticed that Caden had something dripping out of his ear. It looked like orange juice, but it wasn't. His eardrum ruptured! Yikes! We ran him to the doctor and got him looked at. He was SO brave as the doctor sucked out all the gooey stuff from his ear (there was so much...gross!!). He didn't even flinch. The doctor told me that most children will not let him do that, and I can see why. The ear vacuum is SO loud (ironically)!
His ear continues to leak, but he is having surgery this week to fix things. He has hardly complained at all, just seems lethargic and feverish. I hope that surgery goes well so that he can get back to feeling better.
I had to post these pictures of him. They are from the night that his eardrum ruptured. He actually fell asleep right after his bath, wrapped up in his towel on my bed, while I was taking pictures of him. I sure love this boy.

Caden is just the best!! I remember when mine ruptured...it was bad news (sounds like we had a similar experience). Tell C-dog that we love him and we're thinking of him. Also, let him know that cotton in ears or head bands are cool :)
